Sallie Knox Obituary

Graveside Services for Sallie Ann Knox, 70, of Montgomery will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. in the Union Springs Cemetery with Bro. Charles Smith officiating.

Sallie was born on October 6, 1950 in Dallas to parents, Robert Kalbitz Sr. and Myrtle (Butcher) Kalbitz and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 12, 2020 in Montgomery.

Sallie graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1968. After graduation, she ventured into the cosmetology field. She decided to try something new and work for the family-owned insurance agency. To further her knowledge, she returned to college to obtain a degree in education. She attended San Jacinto College in Houston and then transferred to University of Houston and graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in education. Later, she attended SFA and received her Master’s degree. Upon graduation, she landed her first job as a teacher in Pasadena. After a few years, she became the principal in Cleveland. To be closer to home, she accepted the assistant principal position in Conroe and retired after 17 years of service.

First and foremost, Sallie loved the Lord and enjoyed listening to gospel music. Family was very important to her and she loved her husband Jesse “J.D.” with all her heart. After meeting J.D., the two soon fell in love and married on August 16, 1984. Sallie had children previously and so did J.D. and they later adopted two more children. In her spare time, you could find her tending to her flowers and plants or trying to catch the biggest fish at the lake.

Sallie is preceded in death by her parents and numerous siblings.

Sallie is survived by her husband of 36 years, Jesse “J.D.” Knox of Montgomery; children, James Sturrock and wife Sarah of Galveston, Connie Whittenton and husband Clayton of Montgomery, Amy Garcia of Houston, Drew Knox and wife Cassie of Deer Park, Jonathan Knox and Jason Knox both of Montgomery; brothers, Robert Kalbitz Jr. and wife Anna Marie of Boerne, David Simpson of Corsicana and Vic Thomas and wife Dottie of Lago Vista; grandchildren, Mabel, Destiny, Cullen, Zane, Noah, Austin, Bryana, Angel, Amanda, and Jason; great grandchildren, Eli and Ezra and numerous other relatives.
