Margaret (Pennington) Spurlock

Margaret Spurlock, 83 of Lufkin, passed away on Saturday, December 2,2023 in Lufkin. Graveside Service for Margaret will be at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 6,2023 at Union Springs Cemetery in Corrigan Texas. 

Margaret was born to parents James and Mable Pennington on November 17,1940 in Liverpool England. She lived in Liverpool until she was 18 and met the love of her life Thomas Spurlock. They wedded in 1959 and traveled the world over due to Thomas being in the military. They officially settled in Corrigan, Tx. in 1977 where she lived out her remaining years. Margaret was a loving mother, nana, and great-grandmother and found joy in her life when her grandbabies where around. She was an avid crafter; you could find her dabbling in all sorts of crafts from macrame to pottery and everything in between. She especially enjoyed quilting and with every new addition to the family, be it her own grandbabies or a family friend having a new baby she made sure they had a one-of-a-kind blanket. In her earlier years she enjoyed gardening and had an abundance of roses outside her home that she took great pride in. 

Mom had a great since of humor and witty personality and could always find joy in everything she did. She served as a kindergarten substitute teacher for many years and volunteered her time at the local VFW Hall as well as being a member of the NCOA Wives Association. She loved dogs and had two special pups Coco and Sandy. She also enjoyed bowling and was a member of different leagues throughout the years.

Margaret is survived by Son, David Spurlock and wife Leora, Daughter, Ann Westbrook, Grandchildren; Justin Spurlock, Carol Spurlock, Cyndi Spurlock, Amanda Nott, Casey Spurlock, Amber Hahn, Kimberly Hahn, Nicholas Hahn, Colby Moreland, Wesley Moreland, and Arnulfo "Nufie" Cuevas Jr. and fifteen great- grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by parents James and Mable Pennington, her six siblings, husband Thomas Spurlock, son Thomas "Tommy" Spurlock and grandson James Spurlock. 

She will be greatly missed.
