Funeral Services for Lewis Nowlin, 92, of Corrigan will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the Corrigan Funeral Home with Norman Turner officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m.
Lewis was born November 3, 1930, in Barnum to Jenry and Ara (Lewis) Nowlin and passed away Friday, December 23, 2022 in Lufkin.
Lewis was of the Church of Christ faith and a long-time member of Pine Grove Church of Christ. He graduated from Chester High School in 1949. Shortly after graduation, he attended Sam Houston State University and obtained a teaching degree in agriculture, teaching for only one year. He then joined the United States Army and served from 1954 to 1956, during the Korean War. He worked as a mechanic at the Log Hog and worked for L.P. and retired in 1992 after 10 years of service. Lewis enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, and reading. On June 28, 1963, he married the love of his life, Barbara Fuller. They spent more than 59 years together before his passing.
Lewis is preceded in death by his parents, Jenry and Ara Nowlin; sisters, Savilla Nowlin, Corrine Richardson, Grace Clark, and Emma Cone; brothers, Sammy Ray Nowlin and Jenry Elton “Jinks” Nowlin.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Nowlin of Corrigan; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Diane Nowlin of Wilsonville, OR; daughter, Nancy Nowlin of Huntsville; and grandson Caleb Jeffrey Nowlin of Wilsonville, OR and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers: Duane Jordan, Tom Fuller, John Fuller, James Richardson, Ray McKnight, and Mike Davis.
Honorary Pallbearers: Charles Fuller, Charles Ray Fuller, Raymond Wallace, Raymond Klores, and Ashley Bacon.
