George Lee Ellis

Funeral Services for George Ellis, 65, of Corrigan will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Corrigan Funeral Home with Pastor Charlie Hodge officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Corrigan. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 8, 2021, from 5-7 p.m. at Corrigan Funeral Home. George was born in Corrigan on December 2, 1955, to the late Roddof and Ethel (Bryant) Ellis and passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021, in Corrigan.

He graduated from Corrigan in 1975 and begin his working career in the logging industry. He drove a truck for 45 years and was currently employed by H and C Logging in Corrigan.

In his younger years, he enjoyed riding horses in the Dogwood Trail Ride. When his girls were little, he would read to them and it always brought a smile to their face.

George enjoyed fishing and cleaning out the pond. He was also a collector of old trucks and enjoyed tinkering with them. He was known as “PawPaw” by all the grandchildren. On his trips to town, he would go by the store to get the grandchildren some of their favorite treats. They looked forward to their PawPaw returning with gum, ice cream, and tootsie pops.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

George is survived by his daughters, Mary Ann Brogden and husband Chris of Gordon, Ga; Kelly Ellis of Corrigan; Leah Ellis of Corrigan; Haley Cox and husband Chase of Corrigan and Katie Napier and husband Tyler of Livingston; brothers, John Ellis and wife Van of Corrigan and Jerry Wayne Ellis and wife Rose of Huntington; sisters, Lyndal Klores and husband Raymond of Chester and Juanita Powell and husband Milton of Barnum; 14 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers: Brandt Hart, Mason Parker, Kaighnen Green, Keighen Green, Rodey Parker, and Corbitt Brogden.

Honorary Pallbearers: Ke’Vron Green and Layton Cox
