Funeral Services for Carolyn Cooper, 84, of Corrigan will be held Monday, October 31, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Union Springs Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Lesly Wilkinson officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 30, 2022, from 2-4 p.m. in the Corrigan Funeral Home.
Carolyn was born on May 5, 1938 in Corrigan, Texas to William and Ida (Lee) Watson and went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.
Carolyn graduated from Corrigan High School in 1958 and was a faithful member of Union Springs Missionary Baptist Church for many years. She acquired a Certificate in Business and went on to work with the Corrigan Police Department as a Dispatcher for more than 20 years. Carolyn loved to go hunting, fishing and to spend time in her flower garden. She looked forward to the summer months when she and her loved ones would vacation.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, William & Ida Watson; first husband, Norris Truitt Lawson; second husband, Maxie “Pete” Cooper; son, Murle Lawson; brothers, Edward Watson and Sam Watson; and sister, Lucille Holliday.
She is survived by her daughter, Tammi Lawson of Corrigan; grand-dog, Gypsy Rose; sisters, Margie Nash of Lufkin and Betty Hollis of Corrigan; brother, William “Ricky” Watson of Hopewell, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers: Matt Reppond, Don Mitchell, Billy Shane Wilkinson, Brian Brantley, Robert King and Jason King.
Honorary Pallbearers: Chris Pelletier, Johnny Perkins, Ray Stubbs and Kendall Stewart.
