Bo Smith

Funeral Services for Bo Smith, 79, of Corrigan will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church Family Life Center in Corrigan with Bro. Buster Grigg officiating. Interment will follow in the Stryker Cemetery in Corrigan. Visitation will be held at 5:00 prior to the service.

Bo was born on February 4, 1942 in Corrigan to the late Charlie Monroe and Reba (Johnson) Smith and passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021 in Corrigan. He graduated from Corrigan High School in 1961 and attended Lon Morris Junior College in Jacksonville.

Bo was a Baptist by faith and a member of First Baptist Church in Corrigan. He worked for Temple Inland in Diboll and retired after 20 years of service. Later, he went to work for Pennzoil and retired for the second time after 20 years of service. After retirement, he begin training horses, which was a passion of his. He was also the Pasture Rider for the Papermill Pasture Hunting Club for 18 years.

In his spare time, he enjoyed team roping with his friends. Bo was a member of the “Corvette Club” in Corrigan, which included his wife, Kathy, Robert and Rhonda King, and Wesley and JoAnn Scott; they enjoyed many road trips together.

Bo had a love for his horses and he enjoyed going on rides every chance he got. He was known as the “Trail Boss” for the Corrigan-Camden trail ride, leading the group of trail riders to Woodville to join up with the Dogwood trail riders. He was a member of the Corrigan Masonic Lodge #1103 and served as Worshipful Master twice and a 33rd degree Scottish Rite.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Bo is survived by his wife, Kathy Wood Smith of Corrigan; son, Larry Smith of Corrigan; daughter, LaDena Herring and husband Rance of Corrigan; sisters, Sue Johnson and husband J.D. of Diboll and Molly Haney and husband Brax of Lufkin; stepsons, Kevin Wood of Wells and Kyle Wood and wife Brenda of Lufkin; grandchildren, Dakota and Montana Smith both of Corrigan; step grandchildren, Madison and Brayden Wood and Levi and Blake Wood and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers: Kevin Dorman, Travis Barnes, Jimmy Wright, Jimmy Taylor, Steve Wilson, and Jim Rodgers.

Honorary Pallbearers: Robert King and Wesley Scott.
