Funeral service will be at Corrigan Funeral Home on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 2:00pm with Mr. Jud Hodge officiating. Laird Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements. Interment to follow at Union Springs Cemetery in Corrigan, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00pm on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Corrigan Funeral Home.
Billie Myrteil Bergman, 97, of Flint, Tx. passed into Heaven on April 30. 2024.
Billie was born in Corrigan, Texas to William and Zimmer Harrell on September 26, 1926. She attended Corrigan Independent School District, graduating at age 16 in 1943.
Billie first and foremost served the Lord through teaching Sunday School for 60 years, reading God’s Holy Bible through five times along with decades of Christian study materials. An avid reader, Billie also enjoyed Christian and historical biographies, mysteries, the classics and several popular authors, often reading two books simultaneously. Billie was a whiz at completing the most complicated puzzles she could possibly find in record time. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, cooking, and baking, as anyone that has ever partaken of her pies could attest to.
Billie is survived by her youngest son and wife, William and Martha Bergman; daughter, Cindy Burkard; daughter-in-law, Susan Bergman; Grandchildren and spouses, Wendy and Robert Zellers, Kelly and Denise Bergman, Dr. Sarah and Dillon Turner, Elizabeth and Mark Couturiaux, Ben and Elizabeth Chapman and Daniel Chapman; Great Grandchildren and spouses, Emili and Matt Pool, Noah Lamb, Aaron Lamb, Isaac Bergman, Nora Couturiaux, Harper Couturiaux, Lily Chapman and Faith Chapman; Great-Great Granddaughter, Savannah Pool. Many heartfelt loving nieces, nephews, their spouses and children; and many dear friends.
Billie is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Clayton M. Bergman, Sr. before his untimely passing in May 1988 and their oldest son, Clayton M. Bergman, Jr. in May 2022. Her sisters and spouses, Wilma and Worth Hodge, Delma and Eddie Greene, and Melba and Marion Rhodes.
